Adam and Jeremy were joined today by owner Leonard Cohen from the newest Mexican restaurant in SLO, La Esquina. He brought in different wines, tequilas, and dishes from their menu for the Cork Dorks to try, including an absolutely delicious crab chili relleno. Stream the entire show with the player below!
Leonard explained to us that he decided to open up a Mexican restaurant because he felt there wasn't a solid location to enjoy quality homemade margaritas with chips and guacamole in San Luis Obispo. He says that many spots in SLO that offer Mexican cuisine often are catered towards college students, with pre-made ingredients and very large servings.
La Esquina uses only fresh ingredients to make their own chips, dips, and drinks, and all of their dishes are cooked-to-order. They just opened recently so they are still experimenting with the menu, changing it fairly often to see what their customers enjoy the most. Their menu offers several types of enchiladas, chili rellenos, fajitas, burritos and many more options!
Since Leonard comes from a wine background, he decided to have many wines featured on the menu at La Esquina. They offer several white wines from local wineries, but also some from Spain, France, and Italy that all pair well with the different salsas they offer.
La Esquina is quickly gaining a following here on the central coast, but luckily you can make reservations by calling 805-439-4289. For more information about La Esquina, head to their website here: www.laesquinaslo.com
