Suzanne's Three to See in Local Music This Weekend June 16-18

June 15th, 2017

Concerts in the Plaza, Mission Plaza, SLO

Friday 5-8p

Fialta is, at its core, a foursome made up of 2 married couples: Beth and Mike, Sarah and David. Think of a modern day Fleetwood Mac and add in some synth and a little more sass. They deliver synthy alt-pop using both conventional and not so conventional instrumentation with varying lead vocals (both male and female), amazing group harmonies, and lyrics that will make you think. Each one is skilled in multiple instruments so, you'll see constant moving and changing on the stage. There's no shortage of fun with these guys. Be sure to bring your dancin' shoes!

My Music Pairing: Firestone's Luponic Distortion or Chamisal's Stainless Chardonnay

Shawn Clark Family Band

Sips & Songs, Claiborne & Churchill, SLO

Friday 5:30-7:30

The Shawn Clark Family band is led by a Texas native, Shawn Clark, who's now settled here on the Central Coast of California and has the sound to match. In fact, you'll find songs named after the various places he's called home or maybe just traveled through on his journey. Country? Sure, and it's deep. The lyrics are personal...sometimes it's new love, sometimes it's heartbreak but every time, you'll feel it. They've got covers true to the originals and some re-imagined for their specific style. The vocals are smooth and accompanied by acoustic guitar, drums, stand up bass and a slide guitar you're not soon to forget. You'll find yourself swaying, dancing and wanting more.

My Music Pairing: Claiborne & Churchill Riesling

Truth About Seafood

Barrelhouse Brewing Company, Paso Robles

Saturday 5-7p

Truth About Seafood has a storied history from the San Francisco Bay to the Central Coast. With these guys, you'll find a sound reminiscent of classic rock but updated with some 90s flair and it all feels a bit more modern. TAS is a force to be reckoned with with a wry sense of humor that becomes about as much a part of the show as the tunes. As far as the set list goes, expect a nice mix of covers that you know and love blended well with their cool original rock jams. On occasion, I've seen them unplug and rock the acoustics too. Either way they serve it, it's always a blast to rock with these guys. And, this venue will be a perfect pairing. Grab a cold one and enjoy!

My Music Pairing: Barrelhouse's Mango IPA
