Suzanne's 3 to See In Local Music This Weekend – July 14 to 16

July 13th, 2017

The Kicks

Concerts in the Plaza, SLO

Friday 7/14, 5-8p

FREE MUSIC + BEER/WINE/PIZZA MONEY

The Kicks are a super fun roots reggae band that grew out of Cal Poly. Bonded in music through their days as students, this group has stood the test of time both musically and as a group of friends. That friendship shines through in their live performance. With lyrics that are always positive and a lady at the front who is always smiling, it's hard to not catch their buzz. Reese Galido's vocals are strong and passionate and at the same time smooth like honey. The boys in the rhythm section are a solid foundation for the guitar and horns to funk and jam to. It's just so fun to watch The Kick play!

My Music Pairing: Beer for sure! Firestone's Easy Jack is on tap! Grab a freshie!

ENOY A MEAL/DRINK + ENJOY THE MUSIC

Arroyo Grande Concert Series, Heritage Square Park, AG

Saturday, 7/15, 1-4p with the 'CC Riders'

FREE MUSIC + BYO BLANKETS/CHAIRS/PICNICS

Louie Ortega is a local legend. He's earned this status not just through his music and its accomplishments...that is a pretty big part of it but meet Louie once, and you'll never forget him. He's a completely genuine soul. That absolutely comes through in his performance. The music is blues and rootsy rock with a latin featuring Louie's warm, smooth vocals and solid guitar licks. He's got a lot of talented friends so you really never know who might pop in for a jam when Louie's on the bill.

My Music Pairing: At Wolff Vineyards pair Louie with a glass of Pinot Noir!

Erin & The Earthquakes

Pour House, Paso Robles

Sunday 7/9, 9:30-11:30p

FREE MUSIC + BEER/CIDER MONEY

Erin & The Earthquakes always bring it! Each player is experienced and skilled on their own, so when they join together in this band, they are a force to be reckoned with. Their sound is a mix of rock, blues, funk and jazz. You'll get some great covers that you know and love plus some originals! Expect some cool guitar shredding moments, some super fun and funky jams and a powerhouse female vocal! This is a party waiting to happen so don't forget your dancing shoes!

My Music Pairing: I'd pair this band with an IPA...maybe an easy session IPA even...you don't want to tap out early!
